Boom Learning for Social Studies

Every teacher wants students to enjoy their time in the classroom. School becomes a home away from home with students spending so much time there. It is important to make the most out of every minute to ensure students are engaged, excited, and eager to learn. Boom Learning Task Cards for Social Studies is a surefire way to build these three aspects in your classroom and perfect for distance learning!

What are Boom Task Cards?

Task cards have been popular for years among teachers and students. Boom Learning takes task cards to a whole new level! They are a gamified approach to learning, which is quickly gaining momentum and popularity in schools across the world. Students are given one question at a time and after answering, are given instant feedback. If they are wrong, they can answer again. If they are still stuck, they can progress to the next question and come back to the tricky one when they have help or a fresh mindset!

Boom Task Cards are created through Boom Learning, which is a website used to house classes, task card decks, and compile all the student data. There are memberships that feature different components ranging from free to $35/year.

Benefits of Task Cards

Boom Task Cards have four key benefits, including,

  1. Interactive Features: Boom Cards are gamified, meaning that they have a fun, competitive appearance to ensure students are engaged with the content. With one question at a time, students won’t get overwhelmed. They also receive instant feedback, so there is no panic over completing the entire deck the wrong way or being upset over confusion while completing the assignment. Questions may be fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, clickable answer choices, and have move-able pieces.
  1. Self-Grading: Teachers receive the feedback and data on each individual student without spending any time grading! Boom Learning handles all the grading and compiles it into easy-to-read charts for teachers. Information includes time spent working, overall percentage, and a breakdown of each question where teachers get to see what students selected on incorrect answers.
  1. Differentiation: Boom Cards are easy to differentiate and modify for students! Each deck can be assigned to the class or individual student. Students can complete an assignment that is truly appropriate for them. In addition to this, certain cards can be hidden in a deck while students are working on improving specific skills. Additionally, there are tons of free decks available. Teachers can select the ones that they feel will be best for their classroom.
  1. Paperless: There will be no more pleading with the copier to just print one more assignment or stop clogging every ten copies. There will also be no more cutting, laminating, and gluing interactive resources together. Boom Task Cards are completely digital and can be accessed at any time on a variety of devices, including Smarboards, computers, and tablets.

Boom Learning Task Cards for Social Studies

Social Studies can be tough to make engaging and exciting for students. It can be hard for them to see the connection behind the subject. It is vital to help show them the importance of learning about the past in order to make the best choices for a sustainable future.

In my Boom Learning Store, there are several decks ready to assign to students! Each deck includes information about the topic followed by engaging questions in a variety of formats. Within each deck, students will will be engaged.

Students will love these decks while learning all about the government.

Principles of the Constitution: The Constitution was written in 1787. The document that will always shape America. It is important that students learn the principles of the Constitution to fully understand the American ideal and liberties. Students will learn about the principles in addition to the separation of powers, checks and balances, and popular sovereignty. Students will love reading about this content in addition to answering questions in a fun game format.

Social Justice

Social Justice: Students in the classroom are the future leaders of the world. It is essential that teachers develop lessons that are not only engaging but are impactful in future years. These decks focus on teaching students what social justice is and how it starts with only one person. Students will truly realize how powerful they are and how their decisions can shape an entire community. The decks define key vocabulary and have videos to watch before having students answer multiple-choice and short answer questions. Students can be politically and socially motivated to be positive leaders in their school and throughout their life!

Boom Task Cards for distance learning social studies are truly a game-changer in the classroom. Students will be so excited to complete them and teachers will love seeing this excitement. The ease to modify, assign, and play will reduce stress while lesson planning. They ensure students are receiving a high-quality education!
