Social Studies Professional Development

As students and teachers are returning to the classroom, everyone is feeling some sort of stress. For students, they are adjusting to getting up early and sitting in class all day. Additionally, many are trying to make new friends. For teachers, the to-do list is a mile long. Between getting to know students, lesson planning, and trying to be organized, there is so much to do. One of the biggest challenges can be creating the perfect lessons for students who you don’t really know yet. Thankfully, the Social Studies FREE Professional Development opportunities below are here to help! Each one is filled with incredible lessons and ideas that students will love.

Benefit of Back-to-School Social Studies Professional Development

It may seem crazy to take professional development at the start of the year. Between everything else going on, the last thing many will want to do is add one more thing to the list. However, back-to-school is truly one of the best times to explore professional development. There is a whole year ahead to implement the great things you have learned. However, when teachers wait until April or May, the great things often get added to a to-do list for next year. Unfortunately, this list often gets lost as year-end testing stress kicks in. Thus, the beginning of the year is the perfect time to explore social studies professional development opportunities. Best of all, they can be explored at a time that works for you! There is no need to log in at a certain time or secure a sub. The resources are ready when you are and won’t cost you a penny!

Social Studies Professional Development Opportunities

Since social studies includes so much content, there are several resources ready to help ensure lessons are rigorous and supportive. You can also check out my social studies courses for free resources!

Videos and Resource Sharing Guides

As educators know, the power of communication and collaboration is essential. One of the best aspects of professional development is learning from others. Therefore, these videos will help accomplish this at the comfort of your own computer. The videos include tips, suggestions, and resources from several different educators.

Games in the Classroom

Game Video and Game Resource Sharing Guide: Students LOVE games! However, it can be overwhelming to find the right games to use that still focus on the educational aspects. Thus, great tips and an incredible guide are provided to increase hands-on learning.

Government professional Development

Government Video and Government Resource Sharing Guide : There is so much to include when teaching a Government course! Therefore, the video will take educators through a great layout in order to teach students how complex the government really is.

Personal Finance Professional Development

Personal Finance and Personal Finance Resource Sharing Guide: Since students will soon be responsible for their own finances, personal finance is an essential course! Due to this, this video will provide excellent tips on how to fit in so many essential concepts, such as balancing a budget and credit cards.

Sociology Professional Development

Sociology and Sociology Resource Sharing Guide : The study of people is fascinating. It is also more important than ever as people are becoming more vocal. Thus, this video will help highlight ways to ensure students understand different topics, including ones that are controversial.

US History Professional Development

U.S. History and U.S. History Resource Sharing Guide : The United States has undergone so many changes. Consequently, it can be frustrating to find the best ways to fit in so much information. Thankfully, the collaboration here is incredible! Teachers will learn so many ways in order to ensure all students are comprehending the material.

World History Professional Development

World History and World History Resource Sharing Guide: Similar to the United States, the world has changed so much. There have been positive improvements and many setbacks. Additionally, it can be hard for students to fully comprehend information that occurs in places so far away. Thankfully, the educators in this video show incredible ways to bring the history of the world to life.

Why social studies professional develop is helpful?

Social Studies is such a rewarding subject to teach. There is so much flexibility in how the information can be taught, which helps incorporate the interests of all students. However, this also makes the subject extremely difficult. Between the flexibility and the limited resources out there, it is so helpful to work with other educators. Thankfully, the social studies professional development options above are here to help ensure educators have an incredible year.

My best-selling George Washington activity involves stations to build background knowledge or apply skills. Students thoroughly enjoy getting up to move and apply higher order thinking to the different centers about George Washington.

So get movin' 💪🏻💯
